Welcome to Mrs. Piccirilli's World of Technology.  Every year is very exciting in my classroom.  I have the privilege teaching every student in the entire school.  This includes grades PreK through Eighth Grade.  My class is not only educational which I follow NYS Standards but fun.

TechnologyIn grades PreK through Grade 2, I use both software and Internet programs that help reinforce what is being taught in the primary classroom.  The software programs for PreK and Kindergarten include identify the letters of the alphabet, sounds of the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, basic sight words and more. In grades one and two, I focus on forming short sentences, identifying nouns, verbs, phonics and basic math skills such as addition and subtraction.  A few of the Internet programs used for these classes include starfall.com, funbrain.com and Seussville.com.  In Grades 3 through 5, a variety of Internet assignments and typing assignments are taught.  I introduce basic keyboarding skills in Grade 3 and expand on the lessons each year.  The students learn how to use a keyboard,  its functions and to become proficient typists by the eighth grade.  Internet assignments have themes.

For example History of Halloween, Famous Explorers, Advent, Lent, Politics, Presidents, to name a few.  Several of these assignments are intergrated with lessons being taught in the core subject areas.  In Grades 6-8, similar assignments are given however these grade levels also learn to form Spreadsheets using our Excel program and a Powerpoint program.  Microsoft Word is also a key program used in grades three through eighth.  Students are taught the functions of Word and type stories, create newsletters, friendly letters and much more.  In addition, lessons are taught on How to Properly Care for Your Computer, Internet Rules and Safety.  As you can see all of our students are busy as a beaver in each class.

Thank you for visiting my website and you can always reach me by e-mailing me at my web address listed above.  I truly enjoy teaching your children and have a Blessed Year.
